Choosing a Floor Cleaner in Dubai

Floors in Dubai work harder than in most cities. Fine sand is carried in on every pair of shoes, lobbies see heavy footfall from morning to night, and hard tap water leaves marks if a mop is too wet or the water is not changed. A floor cleaner for commercial use has to deal with all three, every day.

Four things matter when you choose one:

• One product for mixed floors. Most buildings combine natural stone, tile and vinyl. A floor cleaner that is suitable for all of them removes the risk of staff using the wrong bottle on the wrong surface.
• No acid on stone. Marble and terrazzo react with acidic products. A floor cleaner for daily use in a stone lobby must not be an acid descaler.
• Antibacterial action. Corridors, washrooms and kitchen floors carry bacteria from shoes and spills, so daily mopping should do more than lift dust.
• Simple dosing. A fixed dose per bucket - 60ml per 5L for VT-DS-007 - keeps results consistent across shifts and makes stock easy to plan.

Marble Floor Cleaner vs Polishing and Sealing

A marble floor cleaner and a marble polish do different jobs. Polishing, crystallization and sealing restore the shine on marble, granite and terrazzo and protect the surface - that work is done by a stone care or marble polishing company. Daily floor cleaning is what keeps that shine between visits: a suitable marble floor cleaner, a damp mop and regular sweeping to remove grit.

VT-DS-007 is a daily marble floor cleaner, not a polish or a sealer. If you run a marble polishing or restoration company, it can be supplied to your clients as their daily aftercare floor cleaner after a polishing job.

What Not to Use on Marble Floors

• Acid of any kind. Vinegar, lemon-based cleaners, bathroom descalers and tile-and-grout acid cleaners etch marble on contact and leave dull patches that must be re-polished.
• Abrasive powders and scouring pads. They scratch a polished marble surface - use a soft microfiber mop or pad.
• Dirty mop water. Reusing dirty solution spreads grit and film back onto the floor. Change the water as soon as it looks dirty.
• A soaking wet mop. Standing water leaves marks in Dubai hard water and can seep into joints. Wring the mop until it is damp.

Best mop for marble floors

A clean microfiber mop, well wrung. Sweep or dust-mop first - in Dubai, fine sand is what scratches polished marble - then damp-mop in sections with 60ml of VT-DS-007 per 5L of water, working towards the exit.

Ceramic Tile, Grout and Vinyl Floor Cleaning

Ceramic and porcelain tiles are hard-wearing, but the grout lines between them hold dirt. Mop across the tiles rather than along the grout, use a damp rather than wet mop, and change the solution as soon as it looks dirty so soil is not spread back into the joints. For vinyl, use a well-wrung mop and do not leave standing water, which can lift edges and seams over time.
