One product covers two jobs. Diluted in water, it cleans and disinfects floors, hard surfaces and laundry, and it is used undiluted in toilets, sinks and drains. For personal hygiene, it is safe on skin when used as directed - always diluted, and never on broken skin. English SDS and COA are available on request for Dubai Municipality inspections.
The two words are often used together, but they describe different uses. An antiseptic is applied to skin to reduce germs. A disinfectant is applied to hard surfaces and objects - floors, toilets, sinks, door handles - to kill germs there. Common skin antiseptics include alcohol, povidone iodine, hydrogen peroxide and chloroxylenol. Common surface disinfectants include quaternary ammonium compounds (such as benzalkonium chloride), alcohol and chlorine.
An antiseptic disinfectant is a product made for both. Vileson VT-DS-001 is based on chloroxylenol, which is why the same liquid can be diluted for skin cleansing and bathing, and used on floors, washrooms and drains. The dilution is what changes between uses - see the directions below.
Chloroxylenol is the antiseptic active ingredient - the same active used in many well-known antiseptic liquids. It is combined with pine oil and isopropyl alcohol, with castor oil, caustic potash and caramel completing the formula. We publish the full ingredient list so buyers can check exactly what they are ordering.
